About the role
As a key member of our ‘Alo Vaka: Pasifika Employment Service’ your work will contribute to reducing the number of Pacific people on the Jobseeker benefit in the Canterbury region. You will work with participants to support them into full time employment. In addition, you will help them identify barriers to their employment and connect them to relevant services and supports (for example, Mental Health, Disability support).
This is important meaningful work. It’s delivered collaboratively, in a culturally relevant manner, where the whole team work together for better life outcomes for Pacific. You will need to be adaptable as we will expect you to jump in and help with the successful delivery of all the programmes in your region.
About you
If you are ready to help support Pacific people into sustainable employment and you have:
· Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of a Pacific culture with the ability to translate this across the wider Pacific community.
· Experience in helping people find employment or a similar strengths-based support role.
· Fluency in a Pacific Island language (preferred).
· A willingness to support delivery of all the programmes delivered by the Canterbury team.
· Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
· Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
· A clean, full NZ Driver License.
· Clean police record.
